Abstract

The 21st century is a time of constant technological transformation since everything is related to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): from academic life, through interpersonal relationships and business issues. In fact, ICTs have helped enormously in the development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), given that the dynamics they provide are different, faster and contribute to better business results. However, to host ICT in MSMEs, it is necessary to have a large amount of material capital for the acquisition, implementation and development of ICTs. Hence, MSMEs are limited in the use of these technologies, although the development of software has increased and in the specific case of free software, this is a business altemative that merits reflection on its cost and advantages that offers. Today we can find free software for all the needs that are presented in a mipyme: billing, inventory, supplier control, customers, complaints, among many others, causing free software to be cataloged as an alternative technological tool, due to that in a single software can cover one or more needs of a company which causes in the substantive  reduction of purchasing expenses by the entrepreneurs of the region.
